Paired glucose testing is a structured way of testing to determine how a food affects blood glucose. To complete a paired blood glucose reading, an individual will check their blood glucose right before eating. Then, 2 hours after the start of eating, they will check again. The difference between the starting blood glucose and blood glucose taken after the meal can give a lot of insight into how carbohydrates and other foods affect an individual's blood sugars. These readings can help your care team individualize diet and exercise recommendations.
